The Mather Robinson Band
"A prime cut of unadulterated English folk rock. Carve yourself a slice." Tim Carroll. Folkwords.
Like a fine wine, the Mather Robinson Band just keep getting better and better with age. Crafted in Salford and brewed to near perfection, their original songs variously stir the spirit, tug at the heart strings or gladden the soul and often in combination!
The soaring flute solos of Anthony Quinn, the driving guitars and mandolins of Dave Mather and Pete Robinson and the virtuosity of Chris Mather's pulsing bass lines form a formidable platform on which to mount a succession of anthemic, soon-to-be folk classics - and all that delivered with towering two and three part harmonies.
These seasoned festival performers make new friends and followers wherever they go with their relaxed yet professional style. Always with a tale to tell, their humour throws into sharp relief the strong messages they deliver through their songs. On stage there are no airs and graces; no false pretentions, just an energy, a passion and a joie de vivre which belies their years. The band invite you to be friends from the outset - an invitation very readily accepted.
With two acclaimed albums under their belt and a third on the way, MRB rock folk as it should be rocked.
